The red carpet at the Costume Institute Gala, an annual fund-raiser for the Metropolitan Museum Costume Institute, is a crossroad of the arts, fashion and entertainment. Anna Wintour issues the dress code with the Costume Institute’s fashion exhibition in mind. This year’s show is “China: Through the Looking Glass.”
“To celebrate the opening of the new Valentino flagship on Fifth Avenue, designers Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli payed homage to that 1968 show with an exclusive haute couture collection that debuted on Wednesday night at the former Whitney Museum of Art in New York City. The 47-look show opened with a neatly tailored, updated version of a double-breasted swing coat. Sleek, cashmere capes followed along with kicky minis, sitting high on the waist, and twinned with delicate, lace blouses”.
Shot by renowned photography duo Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, the images successfully capture the American actress’s casual beauty as Creative Director Riccardo Tisci leans toward a less glamorous shoot for his upcoming collection.
